In some organizations, it is not desirable or possible to give every user a personal email address. That’s why Play it offers fictional accounts. Below you can read what they are, how to create them, and what limitations apply.
What is a fictional account?
A fictional account is a user account linked to a fictional (non-existent) email address.
The user does not need to activate the account and will not receive an activation email. The organization’s administrator sets up the login details and shares them directly with the user.
These login details consist of:
-
the fictional email address (username)
-
the password defined by the administrator
Users then log in via https://play.playitsafe.eu/.
Password setup
When creating a fictional account, the administrator can set a password, which must:
-
contain at least one lowercase letter
-
contain at least one uppercase letter
-
contain at least one number
-
be 6–20 characters long
After confirmation, the account can be added. The administrator must ensure the user knows their login details.
Limitations of fictional accounts
-
No password self-service: users cannot reset their password themselves; they must contact the administrator if login issues occur.
-
No email functionality: since the address is not real, users do not receive any emails (activation, reminders).
To share information, use internal company communication channels (e.g. intranet, team meetings, internal mailing lists).
When to use a fictional account?
A fictional account is a good solution when:
-
the user has no business email address,
-
or when you want to centrally manage account access without relying on personal addresses.
Tip: Clearly document which login details belong to which user to avoid confusion and simplify support.
